Who we are
Animals is a pet-tracking app. The data controller is the app’s publisher: Quentin Michaud, sole trader (SIRET 839 384 070 00026), 63 rue du Général de Gaulle, 95880 Enghien-les-Bains, France. Contact: quentin.michaud.pro@gmail.com.
What we collect
Your account (email, name, sign-in method), what you enter about your animals (profile, health, journal, weight, expenses, reminders, photos and documents), your devices’ tokens to send reminders and alerts, the point and address of a lost pet alert if you send one, and anonymous technical reports when the app crashes. Your location is used on your phone, if you allow it, for alerts and the list of lost pets near you: it is never sent to our servers.
Why
Only to run the app: create your account, show and sync your data across devices, share an animal with the people you invite, send reminders, publish the lost pet page and alerts you choose to send, manage your subscription and fix bugs. No ads, no resale, no profiling.
Legal basis
Providing the service you use (contract) and, for crash reports and abuse protection, our legitimate interest in a reliable and safe app.
Who can access it
You, and the people you share an animal with (for that animal only). Our technical processors: Google Firebase (hosting, authentication, notifications, crash reports) Anthropic, only if you use the booklet scan (photos are analysed then deleted immediately) and, for payments, Apple, Google and RevenueCat (which tracks subscription status). Nothing else, except what you make public yourself (see “Lost pet”).
Lost pet: page and alerts
The public page can be seen by anyone with its link or QR code, showing only what you choose. If you send an alert, Animals users within the chosen radius of the alert point (2 km by default, 10 km at most) (based on the last time they opened the app) who haven’t turned alerts off get a notification with the pet’s name, the place and a link to its page. To do this, each phone subscribes to the alerts of its area (about 1 km): its location is not stored. Until it’s found (30 days at most), the pet also appears in the lost pets list of users within 20 km: name, species, photo if you made it public, place and the alert’s area (rounded to about 1 km). We keep a record of the alert (pet, place, point, date) to prevent abuse. Alerts you receive are on by default; turn them off in Profile › Lost pet alerts, or remove location access in your phone’s settings. Any user can report a listing: we keep the report (who made it, the listing, the reason, the date) to review it, and a listing reported several times is hidden in the meantime.
Where and for how long
Your data is hosted in the European Union (Belgium). Some Google services may process data outside the EU under standard contractual clauses. We keep your data while your account exists; deleting your account erases everything, animals and files included.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export (Profile › Export my data) and delete your data (Profile › Delete my account) right in the app. For anything else (objection, restriction): quentin.michaud.pro@gmail.com. You may also complain to your data protection authority.
Security and minors
Traffic is encrypted and access is restricted by strict rules: each animal is only visible to its members. The app is not intended for children under 15 without a parent’s consent.
Subscriptions
Subscriptions are managed and billed by Apple or Google, through our provider RevenueCat. We never receive or store your payment details; we only receive your subscription status (plan, renewal date).
Changes
We will let you know in the app about any significant change to this policy.
